LIVERPOOL have entered the race to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike, according to reports.

The Reds are looking to add attacking reinforcements to their squad with rumours that Darwin Nunez could be swapping Merseyside for the Middle East this summer.

According to Sky Germany, Frankfurt forward Ekitike is on the list of targets for Liverpool.

It’s claimed that the newly crowned champions have already opened talks over a potential move.

While Arne Slot and exec Michael Edwards are both keen on the French youth international.

It won’t be an easy deal to get over the line with Chelsea also thought to be in the running to sign the 22-year-old Bundesliga bagsman.

Ekitike, who scored 15 goals and registered eight assists in the league this season, won’t come cheap.

It’s reported that Frankfurt CEO Markus Krosche is holding out for a fee of around £84MILLION for the club’s star man.

Liverpool already splashed £85m on Darwin Nunez in the summer of 2022, but the Uruguayan has fallen out of favour at Anfield.

Nunez managed just five league goals this season as Liverpool stormed to a 20th league title.

Boss Slot rarely chose to use the former Benfica man from the off, starting him just eight times in the league all season.

And it looks as if Nunez’s time with Liverpool could be coming to a close.

Rumours have suggested that clubs in Saudi Arabia are considering a move to bring the striker to the Saudi Pro League next season.

While La Liga giants Atletico Madrid have also been suggested as potential suitors.

Business appears to be coming thick and fast for Liverpool, who already seem to be on the brink of several big transfers.

Bayer Leverkusen wing-back Jeremie Frimpong touched down in the UK in a private jet yesterday to complete a £29.5m move to the Reds.

While Leverkusen teammate Florian Wirtz is also a target for Slot’s team, with the £126m-rated midfielder favouring a move to Liverpool over German giants Bayern Munich.

And the business doesn’t stop there either, Bournemouth full-back Milos Kerkez is also looking likely to make the switch to Merseyside.
