They also own MLB giants the Boston Red Sox, and NHL franchise the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Now according to the Globe, Boston-based FSG are targeting the NBA champion Celtics.
The Celtics formally announced last July, shortly after winning the NBA Finals, that the Grousbeck family are looking to sell the franchise.
FSG are claimed to be one of “four or five” bidders to have since emerged.
The first round of the bidding process is set to close on January 23rd.
Team governor Wyc Grousbeck could then choose a bid to go ahead with.
Alternatively, the two best bids may move forward into a final round.
The price is expected to exceed £5bn ($6bn).

Successful bidders will take over one of the NBA’s most prestigious franchises and an immediate title contender.
They will also inherit the league’s third-most expensive roster which currently sits deep in the luxury tax.
FSG expanded their sporting portfolio last year.
They were part of a group that invested £2.4bn ($3bn) into golf’s PGA Tour.
Liverpool, meanwhile, could be set to add more silverware to their collection this season, with Arne Slot‘s side top of the Premier League and in League Cup, FA Cup and Champions League contention.
That’s despite FSG signing just one player, Federico Chiesa, last summer.
