London crash: Cops among nine injured after bus and police van in major smash

COPS are among nine people injured after a bus and a police van collided in London.

The horror smash happened near Oval Tube station in south London at 11.32am this morning.

It is not thought that any of the nine people suffered life-threatening or life-changing injuries.

A local told MyLondon that the police van had a person inside when it crashed.

Scotland Yard said: “Police were called to Kennington Park Road, SE11 at about 11:32hrs on Wednesday, 14 February following reports of a collision involving a police van and a bus.

“Officers attended the scene alongside colleagues in LAS and LFB.

“Nine people were taken to hospital, including a number of police officers.

“Their injuries have been assessed as not life threatening or life changing.

“Road closures remain in place while officers deal with the incident and enquiries are ongoing.”

The number 36, 155, 185, 333 and 436 buses have been diverted following the smash.

Kennington Park Road has been closed in both directions at the junction with Camberwell New Road.
