IMPATIENT drivers have abandoned their cars after a major UK motorway was brought to a standstill in the wake of a “medical emergency.”
Part of the M3 was blocked in Surrey today after an air ambulance was forced to land on the busy road.
Drivers attempted to turn their cars around after becoming impatient with the delays
The major carriageway was closed in both directions between J2, M25 and J3, Bagshot.
Some motorists became impatient with the delays and were seen exiting their vehicles to walk along the motorway.
Drivers were also spotted turning their cars to face the wrong way on the road as they became frustrated with the delays and congestion.
Motorists appeared to be trying to turn around to go back the way they had come after getting bored of waiting for the medical emergency to be dealt with.
The air ambulance has now left the scene according to National Highways.
The agency blasted the impatient drivers who turned around for causing further delays.
National Highways said in a statement online: “Traffic is held both ways on the M3 in Surrey between J2 (M25) and J3 Bagshot.
“Air Ambulance has now taken off and traffic will be released soon.
“This may be delayed as some motorists are turning around in the carriageway and are now facing the wrong way.“
