A MAJOR motorway has been closed after a vehicle fire with drivers facing long delays.

The M4 in Berkshire is closed eastbound between Junction 14 (Hungerford) and Junction 13 (Chieveley/Newbury) due to a vehicle fire.

National Highways have warned drivers planning to use the M4 of huge delays

National Highways has confirmed that its Traffic Officers are working alongside the fire service to assist with traffic management.

But motorists have still been warned to expect delays.

Normal traffic conditions are expected to return at around 10am, although this could be amended depending on the recovery operation.

It comes after the M48 Severn Bridge was reopened following an accident earlier this morning.

There is still some traffic on the M4 due to motorists following the diversion put in place after the accident.
