A MAJOR motorway has been closed after eight people were injured in a horror six-vehicle crash.
The M6 southbound near Forton Services in Preston, Lancashire, is expected to be closed for “several hours” after the horror smash.

It comes after an air ambulance landed on the carriageway this afternoon with two children among those hurt.
Five people were left with serious injuries including one of the children who has since been rushed to Manchester Children’s Hospital.
The southbound carriageway has been closed to all traffic, while lane three of the northbound side is also shut.
A National Highways spokesman said: “Emergency services are in attendance, including the Air Ambulance.
“National Highways Traffic Officers are in attendance to assist with traffic management.
“Traffic caught within the closure is in the process of being released via rearward relief. Please await until you are instructed. Thank you for your patience.
“Lane 3 (of 3) is also closed on the northbound carriageway due to damage sustained to the central reservation barrier.”
The horror smash occurred between junctions 33 and 32 at Forton Services in Preston.
National Highways Traffic Officers also attended to assist with traffic management.
Drivers have been told to expect severe delays of up to two hours as the scene is dealt with.
Motorists caught in the closure have been asked to wait until they are instructed to move.
National Highways has asked drivers to follow the Hollow Diamond diversion route.
Motorists are asked to exit the M6 at J33 (Lancaster South) to avoid delays to their journey.
