Wyndham Clark, 31, won the 2023 US Open at LA Country Club, pipping Rory McIlroy by one shot.
However, aside from his super weekend in California, Clark has endured a wretched run in the majors.
His next-best result was a T33 at The Open a month after his US Open victory.
But from his 15 appearances, he has failed to make the cut eight times – including last week at Oakmont for the 2025 US Open.
Clark carded two four-over rounds of 76 on Thursday and Friday to miss out on the weekend action – and any prize money.
His score of +8 saw him finish one shot outside of the cut line after bogeying the 18th hole in his second round.
And it appears his frustration boiled over behind the scenes.
According to Tron Carter of the No Laying Up podcast, Clark allegedly “desecrated” the locker room at Oakmont.

He wrote: “Multiple sources confirming that the Blow Pig really got after it in the Oakmont locker room.
“Super classy, desecrating one of the most historic spots in golf AND on the heels of his behavior at Quail Hollow.
“Probably time to put him in the cooler for a few months.”
An accompanying photo appeared to show two panels of the locker doors damaged.
Furious golf supporters were quick to lambast Clark for his reported behaviour.
One said: “That’s a historical locker room too id ban him from ever playing there again tbh.”
Another replied: “This is unacceptable anywhere. He’s a guest of Oakmont. You don’t do this ever.”
A third added: “Not even close to acceptable, for a pro or amateur. He should be suspended. Imagine being a guest at a club and doing that after the round.”
A fourth typed: “He should be suspended. This is ridiculous. The tour and the USGA should make statements strongly condemning the club throwing, profanity, and all the other antics that have become the norm in the professional game.”
‘COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE’
A fifth responded: “Wyndham Clark should be banned from next year’s US Open. Completely unacceptable behaviour.”
2010 US Open champion Graeme McDowell, though, defended Clark.
He posted on X: “This is minimal [in] regards [to] what I’ve seen other players do. Players you would never expect.
“Oakmont will test any player’s mental fortitude. Seen it in person.”
At last month’s PGA Championship, Clark came under fire for mashing an advertising board by launching his driver in anger – breaking his club and only narrowly avoiding a marshal.
A further social media user commented: “I’ve long supported Wyndham Clark, I gave him the benefit of the doubt at PGA Championship when he smashed the sign.
“But this is unacceptable. This is a suspension and fine at minimum.”
And a final person tweeted: “If I did what @Wyndham_Clark did yesterday, I would get arrested. He shouldn’t get out of this with some ChatGPT apology. Should be suspended and fined.”
JJ Spaun was crowned champion at Oakmont on Sunday night after the 120/1 underdog was the only player to finish under par.
He sunk birdies on the final two holes – including a 65-foot monster putt – to deny Robert MacIntyre in dramatic fashion.
