Man, 87, dies after being ‘robbed’ near kids’ playground in broad daylight – as suspect, 53, charged with murder

A MAN has been charged with murder after a 87-year-old man died following an alleged robbery near a kid’s playground.

Peter Augustine, 58, of Hornsey, is accused of killing the pensioner in Manor House, North London.

Augustine has also been charged with robbery, confirmed the Met Police.

The force said cops were urgently called to a report of a robbery on Goodchild Road just before 6pm on Tuesday.

The London Ambulance Service attended the scene and an 87-year-old man was taken to hospital.

But the man, who has not been named, tragically died on Thursday.

The victim’s family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Augustine was arrested in Green Lanes, Hornsey, on Thursday, May 8.

He has been remanded in custody, and will appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, May 10.
