Man City vs Wydad preview
Manchester City take on Moroccan outfit Wydad AC in the Club World Cup on Wednesday, with the clash set to unfold at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field.
The 67,594-capacity stadium will host the tie, though it’s anyone’s guess how many fans will actually attend.
Chelsea’s 2-0 win earlier this week drew just 22,137 spectators in a ground with a capacity of over 71,000.
One certainty, however, is the attendance of City’s three marquee summer signings: Rayan Cherki, Rayan Ait-Nouri, and Tijjani Reijnders.
The trio, brought in for a combined £108million, are all fit and in contention to feature — and are expected to make an immediate impact.
Despite a below-par campaign, City ended the season in fine form, losing just once in their final 13 competitive matches. They also arrive in the US as defending champions, having lifted the Club World Cup in 2023.
Wydad, meanwhile, are 50/1 outsiders after a disappointing domestic campaign that saw them finish third in the 2024–25 Moroccan top flight.
They closed the season with three consecutive league wins but have struggled against European opposition in recent weeks, losing 1-0 in friendlies against both Sevilla and Porto.
