Man in his 60s found dead in home on New Year’s Day as police probe ‘suspicious’ death

A MAN in his 60s was found dead in his home on New Year’s Day.

Cops were called to an address in Hawthorn Drive, Ipswich, shortly before 6pm on Wednesday.

The man in his 60s was found dead within the property and his death is being treated as unexplained.

A police scene is in place at the premises on Hawthorn Drive, near to the junction with Marigold Avenue.

A Home Office post-mortem examination is expected to take place in due course.

A spokesperson for Suffolk Police said: “Enquiries are at an early stage but at this time it is being treated as suspicious.”

Officers are appealing for anybody with information or who saw any suspicious activity near the address between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day to come forward.

Anyone with any information related to the incident is being asked to contact Suffolk Police, quoting crime reference number 37/162/25.
