He used his sneaky cheat sheet taped to his water bottle to perfection to dive the right way and make the stops.

And that allowed Justin Devenny to step up and fire in the winning spot-kick to beat Liverpool after a 2-2 draw inside 90 minutes.

The Community Shield success came just three months after Palace secured the first major trophy in their history, when Henderson was again the penalty-saving hero against Manchester City.

But after his spectacular performance on Sunday, the down-to-earth ex-Manchester United man delighted his adoring supporters by stopping off at a pub.

And he even reportedly put a stunning £1,000 behind the bar to buy drinks for the Eagles supporters.

Henderson, 28, arrived at the Allsop Arms in the Marylebone area of North-West London still wearing his Palace training top, iconic cap and even his winner’s medal.

The shot-stopper – who moved to Selhurst Park in 2023 – swung by for a drink and posed for photos with fans, who hailed his generous gesture.

One fan uploaded a selfie and wrote: “Dean Henderson just stopped off at the Allsop Arms and dropped a £1k off at the bar to buy us all a drink.

But amid the jubilant scenes at Wembley, he forgot to pick up his bottle – and it ended up in the stands among the Palace fans, with one getting their hands on the unique souvenir.

Speaking to TNT Sports about his starring shootout display, the England international said: “Yeah I love the big moments.

“I love being in that pressure moment and I really enjoyed that today.

“The preparation we did for the penalties was great. So thanks to everyone behind the scenes who helped me with that.”

Asked about his towel-covered bottle cheat sheet after the game, he added: “Maybe, maybe. I’m sure you’ll find it.

“Hopefully I picked it up but I don’t think I did.

“The homework we did for the penalties was great.”
