A MAN on a mobility scooter was attacked by an XL Bully-type hound as he tried to stop the beast from mauling his own pet.
The horror unfolded in Birchwood when the man was taking his own dog for a walk.
Police are urging witnesses to come forward after an XL Bully-type dog attacked a man on a mobility scooter
The beast was said to have approached the man’s dog before it pounced on it.
He then tried to intervene to save his pooch and was bitten in the process.
Another man then tried to help and was also attacked by the beast.
A woman then rushed over, saying the hound was hers, and took off with it.
The victims described the monster as an XL Bully type, tall and slim, and brown in colour with white patches.
The attack comes as Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has vowed to ban the controversial XL Bully breed by the end of the year.
It comes after a series of serious and fatal attacks in recent weeks.
Cheshire Police are now urging witnesses to come forward about the horror that unfolded around 4pm last Tuesday.
PC Victoria Taylor said: “I understand this may cause concern in the community and we are working hard to try and locate the dog and its owner.
“Witnesses also said there were some school children filming the incident. I’d urge anyone with footage of the attack to contact me.”
Anyone with information should contact Cheshire police on 101 or via the website quoting occurrence number 23001059199. Alternatively, information can be given anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
The force’s plea comes just days after a woman was mauled by two XL Bully dogs in her own garden.
The victim, 29, was savaged by the beasts on Saturday night in the Sydney Grove area of Wallsend, North Tyneside.
Just days prior, shocking footage showed how officers trap the raging breed.
Video was released by West Midlands Police, who say their team of dangerous dog-handlers have been called to more than 800 incidents in just four months this year.
