MANCHESTER UNITED considered reappointing former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer before hiring Ruben Amorim almost one year ago.
Amorim took over at Old Trafford last November following the dismissal of Erik ten Hag.

However, the 40-year-old has endured a nightmare year in the job.
The Red Devils failed to win any silverware last season and finished 15th in the Premier League table.
And so far this term they have been knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Grimsby Town and currently sit 14th in the Prem.
Amorim has undoubtedly struggled to live up to expectations in Manchester since arriving.
His future at United is now uncertain, with many now doubting if he will complete a full 12 months in the head coach role.
Should he get the axe, club officials will have a shortlist of potential candidates lined up to replace him – as they did last year following Ten Hag’s exit.
Former United icon Solskjaer was among the names to be mentioned for the role.
There was fleeting consideration given to reappointing him on a temporary basis if Amorim was unattainable.

Solskjaer enjoyed a three-year stint as manager of Man Utd and took charge of 168 games.
Out of those he won 92, drew 35 and lost 41 matches.
He was dismissed in November 2021 – with United seventh in the Premier League table – and replaced by Ralf Rangnick on an interim basis.
Solskjaer has since spent a seven-month spell with Besiktas, which ended in August.
