BRENTFORD have identified a potential replacement for Manchester United target Bryan Mbeumo.

Mbeumo, 25, is United‘s top target to spearhead manager Ruben Amorim’s attack after the club’s worst ever Premier League campaign.

Manchester United have received a boost in their bid to sign Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo

Brentford have identified Ipswich Town star Omari Hutchinson as a replacement for Mbeumo

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Man Utd have received a major boost in their bid to land the winger during the summer transfer window.

That is because Brentford see Ipswich Town star Omari Hutchinson as a candidate that could replace the Cameroon international at the Brentford Community Stadium.

The Bees “appreciate” Hutchinson, 21, who was part of the England Under-21 side that recently retained their European title, but have yet to contact Ipswich about the versatile forward.

The Tractor Boys were recently relegated back to the Championship just a year after gaining promotion to the Premier League.

Therefore, Brentford would be able to offer the ex-Chelsea ace a swift return to the top flight.

The Bees rejected two bids from the Red Devils for Mbeumo, worth up to £60million.

Talks are ongoing between the two Premier League clubs but Brentford director of football Phil Giles reckons the Cameroonian could stay next season.

The Manchester giants were warned there will be no deal if they don’t meet the forward’s £65m price tag.

Giles said: “If they leave it’ll be on our terms. Twenty Premier League goals last year [from Mbeumo], we expected lots of interest and there’s been lots of interest.

“If he earned a massive move now and it was right for us financially, we’d be open to that.

“But if he ended up here next season, I wouldn’t be massively surprised.

“We’d be delighted. And that’s not off the table as well — so let’s see how it evolves.”
