JADON SANCHO is in talks for a stunning deadline day move to Aston Villa.

Manchester United have been desperately trying to offload the expensive flop after Sancho returned from his loan at Chelsea last season.

The 25-year-old winger turned down a move to Italian side Roma earlier in the window.

But Sancho, who earns £250,000-a-week in the United bomb squad, could be handed the chance to move to Villa Park to reignite his career.

Sancho has spent the last 18 months on loan, first at former club Borussia Dortmund in the second half of the 2023/24 season and then on a season-long loan with Chelsea in 2024/25.

Villa boss Unai Emery, who is yet to see his team score a Premier League goal this season, will be hoping to find the spark in Sancho which convinced United to sign him for £73million back in 2022.

Emery gave United academy star Marcus Rashford a lifeline last season by bringing him in on loan after the England international was frozen out by Ruben Amorim.

Rashford repaid that faith by scoring four goals and adding six assists in all competitions before an injury ended his season a month early.

He then secured a loan transfer to Barcelona after proving his worth.

Sancho now has the chance to do the same after flattering to deceive during his three years at United.

In the meantime, United are also exploring a deal to sign Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez before today’s 7pm transfer deadline.

The Red Devils are in desperate need of a new goalkeeper, with Altay Bayindir and Andre Onana putting in less-than convincing displays at the start of the season.

United are eyeing a move for one of Martinez or 23-year-old Belgian shot-stopper Senne Lammers.

They are understood to be trying to hash out terms to sign Lammers from Royal Antwerp, but contacted Villa over a possible Martinez swoop as a contingency plan.

However, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has reported United’s deal to sign Martinez from Villa will hinge on the exit of Sancho going the other way.

Elsewhere, United transfer chiefs have been able to pull together a number of late deals to get the bomb squad off the books.

Prior to Alejandro Garnacho‘s £40m transfer to Chelsea on Saturday, United had not made a single player sale.

Rashford had moved on loan to Barcelona in July, which got his £17m wages off the books, but otherwise the club had only earned money through sell-on clauses.

But a mad late-window dash has seen deals to flog Antony, Rasmus Hojlund and Tyrell Malacia all accelerate to a conclusion as well.

Antony was set to move back to Real Betis, where he enjoyed a fruitful loan spell before the deal appeared to be on the brink of collapse.

But talks between the clubs finally saw them settle on a £21.5m transfer fee with a 50 per cent sell-on clause, just three years after the 25-year-old signed for £85.5m from Ajax.

Meanwhile, 22-year-old Hojlund will be heading to Napoli on an initial loan to link up with former United team-mate Scott McTominay, though there is also an option for a permanent move of £38m if he impresses in Naples.

And Malacia is in talks to sign for Spanish club Elche.
