MANCHESTER UNITED have made a major change to their X account just hours after being dumped out of the Carabao Cup by Grimsby.

The Red Devils exited the tournament after losing on penalties to the League Two outfit at Blundell Park.

Ruben Amorim‘s side battled back from 2-0 down through goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire.

However, they were unable to win the penalty shootout after Mbeumo’s second spot-kick crashed into the bar.

United’s status in the tournament changed to out and they also made a change to their X bio.

The previous bio read: “Work hard and smile, you’re at Manchester United!”

The message was a quote from former club receptionist Kath Phipps who sadly died in December 2014.

She had worked at the club since the 1960s and was a hugely popular figure.

She has been honoured by the club with a plaque dedicated to her at the Carrington training ground.

The bio has now been changed just hours after the defeat to Grimsby in the Carabao Cup second round.

It now reads: “The home of Manchester United.”

The club’s social media bio on the platform was previously that as it was changed in March 2022.

United had “The home of Manchester United” but added in an offer on kits while rivals were celebrating their recent achievements.

This caused outrage amongst fans, which forced the club to revert to the solo sentence.

Meanwhile, the Mariners have been having fun on their social media channels following the match.

They put up a hilarious post which fans have claimed has bantered United “off of Earth”.

Grimsby have already discovered that they will have a trip to Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday in the third round.

The Owls themselves caused an upset as they knocked out Leeds United on penalties at Hillsborough.
