MANCHESTER UNITED have told staff they have lost their jobs in the wake of their Europa League final defeat, according to reports.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has overseen extensive cost-cutting measures since arriving at the club.

That included 250 job losses last year, with up to 200 more staff set to be cut.

Some staff have now been informed they will lose their job, according to the Daily Mail.

Discussions have taken place since the Europa League final, though it is not believed to be related to the loss to Tottenham.

Sources at the club have claimed the news of immediate job losses has been met with surprise.

United have made several cuts around the club all season long, including free lunches for non-playing staff.

Despite that, the Red Devils are staring at a £100million financial blackhole with no European football at Old Trafford next season

In the wake of the Spurs defeat United’s share price plummeted by £160million.

It means Ratcliffe’s shares have more than halved in value in 15 months.

Ratcliffe made the unpopular decision NOT to give club staff free tickets for clash at the San Mames stadium, instead arranging a viewing for them at the Diecast warehouse venue in Manchester.

Reports claimed the billionaire was booed when he came up on the screen along with Avram Glazer.
