SENNE LAMMENS was axed from Royal Antwerp’s matchday squad ahead of a £17million move to Manchester United.

The Belgian goalie, 23, has emerged as a late summer target for Ruben Amorim’s side.

Lammens, who has played 63 times for his club but is yet to be capped by Belgium, is eager to join United and has already agreed personal terms over a contract.

The Red Devils are now in talks over a transfer fee in the region of £17m.

And Lammens is on the verge of completing his Old Trafford switch after being axed by Antwerp on Sunday.

The stopper was not even on the bench in their 2-1 home win over Mechelen.

Fabrizio Romano claims Antwerp are expecting Lammens to join United imminently.

But it remains to be seen if he will immediately be handed a starting role under Amorim.

The gaffer used Altay Bayindir in United’s opening defeat to Arsenal after Andre Onana missed all of pre-season with an injury.

Last season’s No1 was expected to return against Fulham today.

But he was once again kept on the bench with Bayindir preferred.

United had previously been linked with Gianluigi Donnarumma after the Italian was axed by Paris Saint-Germain.

He was reportedly offered to United, but they balked at his mammoth wage demands.

Donnarumma is now closing in on a switch to rivals Man City.

That could pave the way for Ederson to join Galatasaray, and could also spell bad news for James Trafford after his disastrous performance in Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Tottenham.
