The rankings were based on crime, education, employment, environment and lifestyle in The Sunday Times list.

Eleven UK postcodes nabbed a seat at the table in total.

Digbeth in Birmingham, was named one of the coolest places to live in the country by the outlet.

According to the new study, B9, the postcode for Digbeth is perfect for “Brummie brats”.

The Sunday Times writes that this area, which was once Birmingham’s “beating industrial heart,” has now become ground zero for “365 party girls (and boys).”

They continued: “The vibe in this graffitied neighbourhood is converted warehouses with a clubbing culture on its doorstep — Club Colette, housed in an abandoned fried chicken shop that’s tucked under Victorian railway arches, is a recent addition — alongside a host of cutting-edge galleries, such as the artist-run Eastside Projects.

“There’s even a touch of glamour: the local production facilities Digbeth Loc Studios is where some of the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie, the Birmingham interwar drama starring Cillian Murphy and Barry Keoghan, was filmed.”

CH2 (Hoole, Chesire) also made it onto the list.

The Times described the area as perfect for “yummy mummies” thanks to its indie spirit, cool café culture, and numerous pregnancy-friendly fitness classes and studios.

North of the border Port Ellen on the island of Islay in Scotland was recognised by The Times.

The picturesque Scottish “party island” is famed for its gorgeous beaches and stunning walking routes.

It has been described as a location for “party islanders,” with newly refurbished watering holes to dip in and out of.

The isle’s dramatic scenery and plethora of distilleries make it the perfect place to visit.

Carraig Fhada Lighthouse is one of the most striking structures on the island.

And Caledonian MacBrayne operates a two hour ferry crossing from Kennacraig to Islay.

Next on the list of coolest postcodes was BT56, the postcode for Northern Ireland‘s Portrush, with its stunning coastline and three blue-flag beaches.

And South London suburb Penge also had its name added to the list of the UK’s coolest postcodes.

The SE20 postcode has bagged itself a sought-after spot, having been hailed as “the most desirable postcode south of the river”.

Nestled between the likes of Crystal Palace and Beckenham, Penge certainly does have a whole lot to offer.

The area is known for its eclectic street art and plethora of local businesses.

HU1 in Hull was also branded one of the coolest places to live in the country.

The article highlighted independent shops, cafes and cultural venues for contributing to the area’s “glow-up”.
