THE Met Office has revealed its Bonfire Night forecast – with “anticyclonic gloom” hitting the UK.

Tonight will be dry, cloudy and quite mild for most of the country, forecasters said.

High pressure has trapped a blanket of moisture close to the earth’s surface.

This “anticyclonic gloom” has brought a drawn-out spell of dull and cloudy weather.

Mist and fog are also possible – so Bonfire Night could be a damp squib for some.

The Met Office said: “Are you heading to an organised firework display on Bonfire night?

“The weather is looking OK – dry and cloudy for most and quite mild.”

It will be cloudy for most overnight, with patchy drizzle spritzing hills in the west.

The fog and mist will be slow to clear tomorrow, which is set to be another dry and cloudy day.

A few spots of rain are possible in the west along with clear spells in other parts.

The dry but cloudy weather will linger into the weekend and there will be some fog patches overnight.

By Saturday there could be some longer spells of rain in western parts.

An amber flood alert is in place for the River Windrush in the Cotswolds.
