MI6 has joined Instagram — with a first post about James Bond.
Spy chief Richard Moore said the account would let the intelligence service “tell our own stories”.

Its reel showed stills from Bond films, including those with Sean Connery as 007 and Dame Judi Dench as M.
It asks: “What do you really want to know about MI6? It’s time to separate fact from fiction.”
Mr Moore, known as C inside the service, posted on X about the new account, saying: “I’m excited to reveal MI6 is now on Instagram!
“For years, others have told their versions of our story.
“Now, we’re lifting the lid, judiciously, to speak in our own voice.”
He was the first head of MI6 — which spies on foreign countries — to have a Twitter account, refusing to give it up when appointed five years ago.
Yesterday, he promised the MI6’s Instagram content would give an “authentic insight into our mission, history, values and people”.
But the account was yet to hit 1,000 followers last night, compared to 240,000 across its sister services.
The Government’s listening post GCHQ was first to join in 2018, with MI5 following in 2021 — both using primarily it to boost their recruitment.
