Jordan’s collection of shoes is called ‘The Dynasty Collection.’
The set features an Air Jordan sneaker which is game-worn from each of the clinching games of Jordan’s six NBA Finals series.
It consists of Air Jordan VI from the 1991 title, Air Jordan VII (1992), Air Jordan VIII (1993), Air Jordan XI (1996), Air Jordan XII (1997), and the Air Jordan XIV (1998).
The collection has been dubbed the ‘Mona Lisa of sports memorabilia,’ head of Modern Collectables Brahm Wachter revealed in a statement to The Daily Mail.
After clinching the 1991 NBA Finals victory, Jordan signed and gifted his sneakers to Tim Hallam, who was the Bulls’ Director of Public Relations.
Jordan would repeat the practice after his next five championship titles.
He would win Finals MVP in all six of his championship wins.
Jordan’s sneakers after each of his championship victories is set to be the most valuable collection of sneakers ever to hit the market.
His partnership with Nike helped transform his massive ‘Jordan Brand’ combined with his basketball legacy.
Jordan became the first NBA player to have a net worth of $1 billion as a result.
As for the auction, photos of Jordan celebrating each one of his championships, except for 1991, are also included.
Sotheby’s, an auction house, is set to auction the GOAT’s shoes.
It was announced last year that the collection would only be available to be purchased through a private sale.
But once the set was shown to the public on a worldwide tour, the auction house made the decision to accept bids as a way to find out the true value.
The auction will start on February 2 as Jordan’s shoes are estimated to be valued between $7 and $10 million.
