A MILLIONAIRE retired businessman beaten with an iron bar in his mansion home was serious but stable in hospital last night.

Former chip shops owner Mike Reohorn, 88, was struck on the head and body by two men who forced a door to get in on Sunday evening.

Cops and ambulances rushed to the scene and took him to hospital where he is in intensive care.

Four days earlier, police seized 43 firearms from his ten-bed property near Broadway, Worcs.

Mr Reohorn was said to run an unofficial halfway house for down-and-outs as well as renting caravans on his land.

Police said a man, 46, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on Sunday and bailed.

A second man, 40, was detained in Evesham, Worcs, yesterday on suspicion of causing GBH.

A police spokesman said the attack and the firearms’ seizure were separate incidents.

On Monday, six police officers were at the property and blue and white scene-of-crime tape had been put up around the rear patio.

Two police vehicles, including a crime scene investigation van, were parked up in front of the property.
