THIS is the moment a fuming shopper smashed a vegan protestor’s megaphone during a protest against lamb at Easter.

The group held up screens showing footage of animal slaughter and spoke through a loud speaker inside an Asda branch in Canterbury, Kent.

But one man saw red as he grabbed the woman’s loud hailer and hurled it to the floor before stomping off.

While some said the group were in the wrong for being inside the store, others described the man as a “stereotypical meat headed, meat eating man-atrocity.”

Protester Ella Wild uploaded the video to her Facebook page, saying “an angry man” had destroyed her megaphone.

Footage from inside the store shows Ella speaking about how animals are celebrated at Easter – yet also eaten.

The man then grabs her megaphone, knocking her to the side before he smashes it to pieces on the floor.

Police then arrive as the protestors remonstrate with store staff.

Many who saw the footage said the man was in the wrong but insist the protestors shouldn’t have been in the shop in the first place.

One commenter said: “I don’t agree with the man breaking the megaphone… but the staff should have kicked the protesters out because a megaphone in a store about what people eat is just ridiculous.”

Another added: “Not needed in a store in my eyes,

“You should have been kicked out the moment you stepped in the store.”

Others rallied behind Ella calling the man “pathetic” and a “wimp”.

One said: “Big brave bloke goes for girl with megaphone.

“The standard of what passes for a man these days is just effing pathetic.”

Another added: “Pretty much sums up a stereotypical meat headed, meat eating man-atrocity.”

But others said he had been provoked.

One commenter said: “You’re using a megaphone to cause a loud disturbance in order to ‘raise awareness about animal cruelty.”

“I’m vegetarian and I am proud to be, that wouldn’t cause me to try and turn others away from their decision.”

Another added: “Causing disruption is not going to help your cause, probably the opposite.”

Kent Police and Asda have been approached for comment.
