Owner Jo Cooper’s security cameras show a woman entering the property through the front gate while carrying a black backpack.

Seconds later, dog squeals can be heard before the alleged thief is seen running from the house in Buckingham, Buckinghamshire.

She makes off with the bag, reportedly containing a nine-week-old puppy, before Jo’s granddaughter starts chasing her.

During the pursuit, Jolene Cooper, 14, shouts “what the f**k are you doing” as she tries to catch up with the woman.

She can be heard yelling “give me back my puppy” as the alleged burglar escapes down the end of the street.

Grandma-of-22 Jo had tasked her granddaughter with advertising and selling the six-puppy litter online.

The 53-year-old mobile catering worker says she’s proud of her granddaughter for chasing the culprit.

Jo said: “I looked at my camera and all I saw was two people running down the road then I realised it was Jolene chasing someone.

“I was so shocked to see it but I’m proud of Jolene. She’s very mature.

“Jolene had come downstairs and saw the woman bent over in the hallway picking the puppy up.

“So she jumped over the stair gate and ran after her.

“It makes me apprehensive of letting Jolene arrange anything like this [such as selling puppies] again. It’s not fair on her.

“We’ve given people the chance to buy them and they’re taking advantage of our good nature.”

Jo says the new owner is waiting for the puppy to be returned so they can take him home.

Her Facebook post has more than 100 reactions, 100 comments and almost 500 shares.

One commented: “There’s some sick people about, hope you get him back.”

A second said: “Hope you get your puppy back asap. Also that the evil scumbag is brought to justice properly and sees bars for a long time.”

A third agreed and added: “Absolute scumbags.”

Thames Valley Police say they have launched a probe and want to reassure the public they are “actively progressing the investigation“.

A spokesperson for the force said: “We received a report of a burglary in Buckingham on Monday, 1 September.

“Officers have launched an investigation and enquiries remain ongoing.

“A suspect has been identified and is currently being treated as a person of interest in connection with this incident.

“We understand the concern this may cause and would like to reassure the public we are actively progressing the investigation.”
