THIS is the shocking moment a maniac wielding what appears to be a sword lunges at a knifeman on a busy high street.
The horrifying scenes were caught on camera in Sparkbrook, Birmingham, shortly before 3pm on Friday.
Footage shows the knifeman facing off with the ‘sword-wielding’ manic in the streets of Birmingham last week
An agitated man wearing a hi-vis jacket, and holding what appears to be a sword, can be seen making his way towards the knifeman
The man in hi-vis then lunges at the knifeman, holding his weapon high in the air
In the clip, crowds can be heard shouting as a man, wearing a hi-vis jacket, wields a large weapon while standing in the middle of the road.
Another man, holding a knife, can be seen running away before he turns to confront the maniac.
As the knifeman backpedals, waving his weapon, others can be seen trying to restrain the man in hi-vis.
Suddenly, the apparent sword-wielder then breaks free of his restrainers and lunges at the knifeman, holding his weapon high in the air.
The knifeman manages to dodge the attack before he stands in front of a store that is closing its shutters.
As crowd members continue to shout, the knifeman appears to sheathe his weapon as people surround him.
The camera then pans back to the man in hi-vis, who also leaves the scene, heading away from the others.
BirminghamLive reported that other clips appeared to show police arriving after the confrontation and putting a suspect in handcuffs.
West Midlands Police said: “We were called to reports of disorder in Stratford Road, Birmingham, just before 3pm on Friday.
