Joshua Jacques has been found guilty of murder
Joshua Jacques, 29, has been found guilty of murder following the drug and alcohol-fuelled bloodbath in Bermondsey, South London, on April 24 last year.
The Old Bailey heard how the family were stabbed, cut and slashed at in the frenzied attack, which Jacques claimed was a “sacrifice”.
He was found naked and lying in the upstairs bathroom in a praying position, screaming “Allah, take me!”.
The killer also yelled “Kill me now”, “Get rid of me”, and “God please forgive me”.
When he was taken to hospital for assessment, Jacques said: “I ain’t even in the wrong, I did them for sacrifice.
“I will do something stupid again.”
Terrified Samantha had called her friend on the morning of the horror with concerns about her boyfriend’s mental state.
In a voice note left at around 11.30am, she said: “Josh is basically getting to the point where he could basically have an episode, like I don’t know what’s triggered him.”
At around 7.25pm, Samantha told her friend they were trying to get medication to calm Jacques down.
She then spoke to her pal just over two hours later to say “he seems calm now”.
The court heard how the following morning, Denton was found by police at the foot of the stairs with one or more knives also discovered.
The three women were then found dead in the kitchen with multiple stab wounds.
Jacques had 11 previous convictions for 20 offences, including for cannabis, being in possession of a silver knuckle duster, and robbery.
In February 2020, he was jailed for 51 months for conspiring to deal heroin and crack cocaine, and possessing cannabis but was released in November 2021.
Jacques was previously arrested after threatening to stab and shoot a security officer, and, while in police custody, threw food around his cell.
The drug addict got through 3g of skunk a day and had been assessed by mental health professionals after drinking water from a toilet.
He admitted manslaughter denied murder on the basis that he was mentally unwell at the time.
Tom Little KC, prosecuting, said there was “no dispute” he killed the four victims with “murderous intent”.
Jacques was not “substantially impaired by any psychiatric condition” at the time and was able to form a “rational judgment”, he added.
Mr Little said the deaths were instead the result of “self-induced intoxication, taking drugs and drinking alcohol“.
He added: “This, we say, led to a transient psychotic disorder not meeting the requirements for the defendant to make out a partial defence of diminished responsibility.”
