Sadly she couldn’t be saved and died six days later.

Her mum Melissa Wilband appeared alongside Jack Wheeler, 30, at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court today.

They are both charged with manslaughter and causing or allowing the death of a child.

The pair spoke only to confirm their names, dates of birth and addresses.

They were released on conditional bail to next appear at Bristol Crown Court on February 19.

At an inquest into Lexi’s death, the court was told the baby had become “significantly unwell” at home.

She was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital before being transferred to Bristol Royal Infirmary.

Lexi tragically passed away on April 18, the inquest was told.

A force spokesman said: “Gloucestershire Police‘s major crime investigation team led on the investigation and the Crown Prosecution Service authorised charges.”
