And she collapsed in the street after finding him dead – after being hit by a motorbike whose rider Nicholas Hopkins later grinned in his police mugshot.

The 20-year-old now faces jail after last week pleading guilty to causing death by dangerous driving as well as other crimes.

The crash killed Mustafa and left his bus driver dad Mohamed Mao, 49, in a coma for weeks – having suffered severe head injuries as well as a shattered hip.

Mustafa’s 11-year-old brother Ahmed Ahmed – who he’d been walking alongside on their way to mosque for evening prayers – suffered a punctured liver and cuts to his neck.

The three family members were walking to Greenwich Islamic Centre in Plumstead in February when hit by the Yamaha Thundercat bike.

Now a family friend has remembered the horror as Mustafa’s mum arrived outside the centre where the crash happened.

She had rushed to the mosque from her Woolwich home.

Swaleh Bocus told the Mirror how he say Heyfa, 43, come running through a police cordon before collapsing tearfully to the floor.

He said: “She had seen her son’s things – she knew he had died.

“She just fell down and collapsed and the officers and paramedics surrounded her to comfort her – she didn’t stand up for nearly half an hour, she was just crying.”

Mustafa was thrown several yards into the air after being hit when crossing at traffic lights and was declared dead at the scene.

Hopkins later admitted a series of offences, including causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving.

The biker also pleaded guilty to causing death by driving without a licence, causing death while uninsured and also possession of Class B drugs.

After his conviction, police released his grinning mugshot taken when he was arrested following the tragedy.

Mustafa’s dad has revealed how he suffered from amnesia after emerging from his two-month coma – unable to even remember his lost son.

Mohamed said: “The dad said previously: “”When I woke up, I didn’t remember anything – I didn’t know my wife, I didn’t know anybody.

“I didn’t know the reason I was there.”

He is still recovering from the injuries, unable to go back to work while waiting for a hip replacement.

Hopkins, remanded into custody, is due for sentencing on January 26.
