A GRIEVING Peruvian mother fears she will never be able to visit her son’s grave again after being told to leave the UK.

Claudia Marcos Sanchez has made an emotional plea to the Home Office after losing an appeal to remain in the country.

Her son, Dario, is buried in Temple Fields Cemetary in Solihull after he died from brain cancer aged six.

But 39-year-old Claudia fears she might never be able to visit his grave again after she was accused of being an “overstayer”, the Birmingham Mail reported.

“My son is here so I need to come back and visit him – but I think it’s going to be really hard to come back now.

“First they [The Home Office] refused to renew my visa, now they’re making it impossible for me to visit. It’s horrible what they are doing.”

Dario was brought by his mother to the UK for treatment, being a dual Peruvian and British national.

But after he died, Claudia was unable to renew her visa in 2022 and an appeal was rejected following a 15-month wait.

Claudia then tried to visit the UK as a visitor in November, but was stopped and questioned at the border before being ordered to return to Peru.

Claudia was reportedly quizzed by border officials who said she had come to the UK to find work and who accused her of being an overstayer, despite her having the correct documentation to enter the country.

She said she was then told to leave the UK a week later.

“I’m a mother and I need to grieve – but I can’t do that anymore.”

Claudia first used visitor visas in the UK before being granted a parent visa in 2019.

A Home Office spokesperson said: “It is long standing government policy that we do not routinely comment on individual cases.”
