A WOMAN battered by a bully ex who then walked free from court has told ministers to fix the prison crisis before someone is killed.

Jade Driscoll, 32, said she was angry and sickened when Paul Flynn was spared jail over the attack which had her fearing for her life.

She said 31-year-old Flynn, who has 78 previous convictions, should have been sent down.

Jade told The Sun: “What else does he need to do to get locked up? He could go on to harm someone else — and it could be worse.

“I have lost faith in the justice system and if the Government doesn’t prioritise it, then everyone else will, too.”

Her case emerged as the Government struggles to ease overcrowding in jails.

Last week, it urged judges to delay sentencing and has announced plans to free some offenders early.

Jade was attacked by Flynn on a night out in December.

She said he pinned her against a wall, punched her and threw her to the floor.

She added: “I tried to get up and he kicked me in the head. He kicked me again and I thought, ‘I’m going to die’.”

Flynn admitted ABH and stealing Jade’s phone as she tried to call for help.

He spent seven months on remand but was given a suspended sentence at Newcastle crown court.

Mum Jade, of Gateshead, said of his let-off: “It was like another kick in the teeth for me.”
