Gwenno Ephraim was spotted walking alone in the direction of Menai Bridge in north Wales – with the mystery woman on the other side of the road.

The 22-year-old’s personal items were found on the crossing the following morning as a search was launched for her by police, HM Coastguard and the RNLI.

Police issued a picture of the female pedestrian with dark hair in the hope she can shed light on what happened.

Cops are asking her, or anybody who recognises her, to contact them.

Chief Inspector Stephen Pawson said: “CCTV footage of the time Gwenno was walking alone also captures a female pedestrian crossing on the opposite side of the bridge.

“We are continuing to appeal for this individual to come forward and assist with the investigation.”

Police also believe drivers of a Silver Audi TT, a black Skoda Octavia, and a grey BMW 116 may have seen Gwenno after the cars were captured on CCTV.

Gwenno was last seen in the upper Bangor area in Gwynedd, North Wales, on July 28 wearing grey joggers, a grey hoodie and black trainers.

North Wales Police believe that she was making her way towards the Menai Suspension Bridge.

Chief Inspector Stephen Pawson said: “Extensive searches remain underway in the Menai Strait area, and we continue to provide support to Gwenno’s family during this extremely difficult time.

“Having analysed CCTV footage, we are confident that Gwenno reached the Menai Suspension Bridge shortly before 11:10pm.

“We’re appealing for this individual to come forward and assist with the investigation.

“We’re also keen to speak with a cyclist and the drivers of three cars, who were all seen travelling across the bridge at around the same time.“

These vehicles included a Silver Audi TT, a black Skoda Octavia, and a grey BMW 116.

“We are grateful to all who have responded to our prior requests for information, and to those who have assisted in our investigation to date.”

The Menai Suspension Bridge connects the island of Anglesey and mainland Wales.

The Grade I listed structure was the world’s first iron suspension bridge when it opened almost 200 years ago.

Anyone with information should contact police.
