STAR filly Nashwa is set to stay in training next season but will miss the Breeders’ Cup.

However, we will get to see Nashwa one more time this term at Ascot in either the QEII over a mile or the mile and a quarter Qipco Champion Stakes.

Ower Imad Al Sagar, whose Blue Diamond Stud Farm bred Nashwa, told me: “Nashwa is heading to Ascot and is entered in both the QEII and Champion. She will run on one or the other.

“There will be no Breeders’ Cup for her but Ascot is not her last race. She will train on as a five-year-old.”

Nashwa was a general 5-1 second-favourite for the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf.

Yorkshire Oaks winner Warm Heart is the 4-1 fav having also claimed the Group 1 Qatar Prix Vermeille at Longchamp last weekend.

The news will be welcomed by Nashwa fans, who have grown to love her talent and link with jockey Hollie Doyle.

This season the pair landed the Group 1 Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket in July and finished second in the Juddmonte International as well as third in the Irish Champion Stakes behind Derby hero Auguste Rodin.

Last season the duo combined to land the Nassau at Glorious Goodwood and Prix de Diane – two notable Group 1 scalps.

Trainer John Gosden has previously praised owner Alsagar for his positive campaigning of Nashwa.

Speaking after her runners-up finish in York to Mostahdaf, the master trainer said: “Nashwa is a good filly and there was no fluke in her finishing second.

“She was stuck in the mud and got too far back at Goodwood but she showed her class today.

“Imad was great to run her, he saw it was shaping up to be a small field and said we must support British racing, which was very brave of him.”
