COPS are probing the death of a schoolboy who died in a horror crash over 35 years ago as new information emerges.
Danny Leech was just seven years old when he was killed by an HGV lorry on Arbroath Road in Dundee on Friday, September 8, 1989.

The young boy was walking into a carnival with his teenage cousin, Karen, when he was knocked down.
His family previously claimed that the police showed little interest in investigating his death, allowing the driver, Colin Nicoll, to leave the scene just 30 minutes later and disregarding witness accounts.
Danny’s parents were informed that no criminal charges would be brought when they initiated a civil case in 1992.
However, a police statement that suddenly appeared in the case files, alleging that Danny ran into the lorry’s path, caused the case to be derailed.
We previously told how Danny’s brother, John, felt compelled to launch his own investigation into his brother’s death.
After two internal police investigations found no issues with the original investigation, John put up billboards in Dundee in 2023, hoping they might lead to new information.
Now, the police have obtained new information regarding Danny’s death and are appealing for witnesses they have not yet spoken with recently.
Road policing officers are evaluating new information provided by Danny’s family to the police in June last year.
The force has also conducted a site visit and reconstructed the collision scene.
Inspector Roy McCarney said: “We are carrying out a comprehensive review the information provided to us by the Leech family in relation to circumstances in 1989.
“As part of this review we have spoken to witnesses who previously gave information to the police. I would urge anyone who may have seen the crash or has any further details which haven’t been previously passed to police to come forward.”
Inspector McCarney added: “We fully appreciate the impact that Danny’s death has had on his family over the past 35 years and understand their desire for more information about the circumstances.
“We remain in regular contact with them and will provide them with a full update on the conclusion of our review.”
The Leech family added: “This appeal is on behalf of the Leech Family, in the hope that after all these years someone will come forward to give info, no matter how small or seemingly trivial, which will allow the authorities to come to a proper conclusion in their investigations and thereby securing justice for Danny Leech and closure for us all.”
Anyone with information can call Police Scotland on 101.
