DARTS ace Vincent van der Voort has claimed that World Championship fan favourite Ricky Evans loves crazy antics – including “dressing as a woman in the street”.

Evans knocked out Dave Chisnall in an epic pre-Christmas clash at Ally Pally after sealing the final set 6-5.

He caught the attention of the crowd with his festive outfit, which included a Christmas shirt and themed glasses.

He then shouted “Merry Christmas you weirdos” to his adoring public after clinching victory.

Van der Voort, 49, has now insisted that the fan-favourite gets up to the “weirdest things” in his spare time.

The Belgian thrower suggested that Evans even walks in public dressed as a woman.

He told the podcast ‘Darts Draait Door’: “You can’t play that.

“I’ve seen those videos online, too.

“Is he dancing on TV in his boxer shorts again. He does the weirdest things.

“Or walking through the streets dressed as a woman. He is quite an odd character.”

Van der Voort admitted that Evan’s win over Chisnall had “everything” in it.

He added: “There was everything in this, match darts back and forth. Making mistakes, miscalculating, making weird decisions.

‘Weird Kettering lad’ Ricky Evans wins one of the ‘greatest games ever’

“Top darts, bad moments. It was just a rollercoaster of emotions going through those players.

“In the end Evans wins and then also that walk-on, with that little Santa Claus on the table.

“All in all just very nice.”

Evans will make his next appearance in the World Championship on Sunday evening,

He faces Robert Owen in the third round for the chance to face either Dimitri Van den Bergh or Callan Rydz in the last 16.

Speaking after the nail-biting win over Chisnall while referring to himself as a “weird lad from Kettering”, he beamed: “I played a world class player, I actually played well for once – normally it’s poo, normally it’s boring.

“Look at this, I’m a weird Kettering lad, I don’t understand it, why are they cheering me on?

“I wished I’d have beat Chizzy 3-0 because my ticker would have been a bit better.
