Newcastle have yet to make a formal offer for the 6ft 4in powerhouse but he is high on their radar and admired by club chiefs.
Brentford’s Yoane Wissa and PSG’s Randal Kolo Muani who has returned from a loan at Juventus is also on the list as well as Chelsea‘s Nicolas Jackson.
Aghehowa, previously known as Samu Omorodion has exploded onto the scene after a stunning debut season at Porto scoring 27 goals in 45 games.
That included a memorable brace against Manchester United in a thrilling 3-3 Europa League draw last term.
He’s now protected by a £85m release clause (€100m) after signing a five-year deal with Porto in 2024 following a failed move to Chelsea.
The Blues had agreed a £34.5m deal with Atletico Madrid last summer but the move fell apart and Porto snapped him up for just €15m.
He never made a senior appearance for Atletico and spent the 2023–24 season on loan at Alaves where he bagged eight goals.

Newcastle’s search for a striker comes after Benjamin Sesko turned them down in favour of Manchester United.
Toon had a £71.5m bid accepted by RB Leipzig, plus £2.1m in add-ons — but the Slovenia star chose Old Trafford instead with United sealing a slightly cheaper deal.
The urgency has increased amid growing uncertainty around Alexander Isak’s future with Newcastle recently rejecting a massive £110m offer from Liverpool for the Swedish star.
Boss Eddie Howe admitted this week that the club is “not deluded” about their need for more firepower ahead of the new campaign.
A number of top attacking targets have already gone elsewhere, including Hugo Ekitike to Liverpool, Bryan Mbeumo to Man United, and Chelsea duo Liam Delap and Joao Pedro.
Born in Spain to Nigerian parents, Aghehowa made headlines last year when he decided to drop his father’s surname in favour of his mother’s.

He told Spanish paper El Pariodico: “She gave us life, risked her life to raise us.
“She deserves to have her name known.”
Aghehowa’s mum, Edith, moved to Spain while pregnant with Samu, settling in Seville and raising her children as a single mother.
Aghehowa has already scored 25 goals in just 39 appearances across the Portuguese league and Europe an incredible return for someone who only turned 21 in May.
