RANGERS are back on the hunt for a new manager after the sacking of Michael Beale after just TEN months in charge.

And it looks like they could follow the Celtic model by appointing Aussie boss Kevin Muscat as his replacement.

Beale was axed following a dreadful opening to the season that’s left them already seven points behind Celtic heading into October, having seemingly wasted a large transfer kitty in the summer on players not up to the task.

He was under huge pressure following the home defeat in the Old Firm and managed to cling onto his job with three wins in a week.

But it came crashing down with the 3-1 home defeat to Aberdeen on Saturday and he was let go, with results “falling short of expectation”.

That said, the 43-year-old actually leaves Ibrox with the highest win percentage of any Rangers boss EVER.

The search for a new manager now rests with a Rangers board that haven’t delivered as yet, and they could look across the city for inspiration.

Muscat – who made a handful of appearances for Gers in the early 2000s – is understood to be keen to discuss the role with the club, should they opt to do so.

Having worked under Ange Postecoglou, Muscat took over the job left behind by the Spurs boss at Melbourne Victory and then Yokohama F. Marinos.

Postecoglou didn’t work out too badly and Nick Montgomery’s spell at Hibs has started promisingly, so it would be a sensible move to follow suit though would be viewed as a copycat model.

He’s the 5/2 market leader with Paddy Power, just ahead of Graham Potter at 4/1 who has reportedly already ruled himself out the running.

The money has poured in for Neil Warnock though after he left Huddersfield last month. Having been as high as 14/1, that price has halved into 7/1.

That’s the same price as Jesse Marsch and just ahead of Kjetil Knutsen (8/1), who are both no strangers to this betting market having been prominent at the end of Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s reign.

Marcelo Bielsea is 17/2, while Ralph Hasenhuttl and Derek McInnes (both 10/1) make up the top of the betting list.
