A NIGHTMARE neighbour has been kicked out of his flat after he called a woman a “stupid f***ing slapper” and beat her up with his crutches.

Phillip Herrick, 62, “repeatedly” targeted people living around him and members of staff at a property management service on Berkeley Street in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

He was given a Civil Injunction at Cheltenham and Gloucester County Court for his campaign of harassment and violence.

Herrick’s anti-social behaviour, along with arrears for non-payment of his service charge, led to the forfeiture of his flat being granted by the court in August 2024.

Since the court hearing in August, Herrick continued his vendetta against the Cambray Property Management staff, police say.

Officers say Herrick refused to stop despite many warnings from police.

One former neighbour said: “He was terrible, violent and nasty to everyone.

“He wasn’t like that before, he used to keep himself to himself.

“He used to sit on the front door step and beg from passers-by, every time I came in and out he would hit me with his crutches.

“It’s been awful, I’m not well myself. It’s been a nightmare, it’s been going on for years.

“Sometimes he would bring people home from the pub and they would sleep in the garden like vagrants, violent people.

”They would wake up in the morning and start banging on my door. It’s been foul.

“I couldn’t even take my own rubbish out because he was sat there all the time, out on the front doorstep.

“He’d always say the same thing – ‘you stupid f***ing slapper’.

“They’ve turned the doorbells off because he kept on knocking on the doors and buzzing all the flats.

“I used to grow vegetables for everybody that lived here out in the garden because I couldn’t go out there because once I went out there I was trapped.

“He would just stand in the doorway and threaten to hit me and I’d have to beg him to let me back into my own home. It’s been horrible.

“I’m old and I’m ill and I’m a sitting duck here, and he’s been absolutely horrible. It’s been abuse on every kind of level.

”Everybody nice who moves in here moves out straight away because he’s so awful.

“I come and go when he’s not there. I planned my entire world around times when he wasn’t sitting on the doorstep.

“But I do worry about him, as much as he was horrible, but when they showed up to take him away, he didn’t have proper shoes and a coat in the middle of winter.

”He’s a horrible man, but he still deserves to have a coat.”

The case was brought against Herrick by Solace, a joint team of officers from Gloucestershire Constabulary, Cheltenham Borough Council and Gloucester City Council.

PCSO Morag Gordon said: “I feel people should be able to come and go to work and live peacefully in their homes without worrying about Herrick’s actions.

“This injunction shows that threats of violence and intimidation will not be tolerated.”

Anyone who witnesses Herrick breaching the order is asked to contact police on 101.
