NINE teenagers have been charged with murdering a 16-year-old schoolboy in Manchester.

Kennie Carter suffered a single fatal stab wound to the chest on January 22 last year as he walked home in Stretford and later died in hospital.

Jabriel Ferguson and Rashuan Williams, both 18, have been charged with the murder and manslaughter of Kennie.

Seven more teenagers, the two youngest aged 14, have also been charged with murder and manslaughter.

Kennie’s mum Joan Dixon spoke in July on what would have been his 17th birthday.

She said, “I’ve got Kennie on my mind 24-7, right now while I’m talking to you Kennie’s in my head, while I’m asleep Kennie’s in my head, when I wake up Kennie’s in my head.

“Every day is the same thing, we’ll sit there, and I’m sat on the edge of my chair every day, and it’s as if I’m waiting for something every day – to be told there’s been a breakthrough or something.

“I still even think he’s gonna walk through the door and it’s all been just a real vile trick that’s been played.”

Greater Manchester Police say the investigation is ongoing and have appealed to anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Chief Inspector Nicola McCulloch, of GMP’s major incident Team, said: “As a result of our enquires, nine males have been charged today but I want to be clear this is not the end of our appeal for information.”

“We still request that anyone with information about Kennie’s death or relevant footage – including, CCTV or dashcam – make contact with police.”
