Ligue 1 side Marseille are also believed to be monitoring Henderson’s situation.
The midfielder can leave Ajax for free due to a clause in his contract, which has alerted Forest, according to the Daily Mail.
If that clause is triggered before mid-July Henderson would be allowed to walk away from the Dutch club for nothing.
And a return to the Prem could appeal to the 35-year-old, who is keen to play in the World Cup next year.
Henderson was recalled to the squad by Tuchel, who has insisted he will be the “glue” that holds the group together.
Forest would also be able to offer the experienced star European football after qualifying for the Conference League.
Henderson was caught up in a transfer storm in January and almost left Ajax for Monaco.
The 84-cap England star reportedly agreed personal terms with the French club before Ajax intervened to squash the move.

It had been reported Henderson requested to leave the Dutch club and was understood to have threatened not to play if he was denied a transfer.
In fact, in a last ditch attempt to show his frustrations at being denied an exit, Henderson reportedly REFUSED to wear the captain’s armband for Ajax’s 2-1 Europa League win over Galatasaray.
The controversy didn’t stop there as Henderson seemingly chose not to celebrate Ajax’s two goals during the game.
While he appeared to wave goodbye to the fans when he was substituted in the 77th minute.
Henderson has also been tipped to make an emotional return to boyhood club Sunderland following their promotion to the Prem.
