Following United’s 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in the Europa League final, the bookmaker has launched Escape with Paddy – a competition giving one lucky(ish) United supporter the opportunity to flee one of the most miserable seasons in the club’s history.

After 37 games, United sit 16th in the Premier League with a club-record 18 defeats, while arch-rivals Liverpool cruised to a record-equalling 20th league title with four matches to spare.

The Europa League final in Bilbao had offered a glimmer of redemption, but that too slipped away as Ruben Amorim’s side slumped to yet another defeat.

With spirits at Old Trafford at an all-time low – cheeky Irish bookmaker Paddy Power have intervened.

Paddy’s say the winning fan will be whisked away to Trollanes – a windswept village perched on the edge of the Faroe Islands, which is claimed to be more than 500 miles from the nearest Liverpool fan.

A Paddy Power spokesperson said: “Watching Manchester United’s season unfold has been a tough watch for all the fans, especially with Liverpool’s instant success under Arne Slot.

“After seeing their final glimmer of hope disappear last night, we thought it’s only right to give someone the chance to get away from it all and forget about football for a while.”

To enter, fans simply need to like, comment on, or share any Escape Man Utd video post across Paddy Power’s social media channels. The competition is open to all new and existing customers in the UK and Ireland with a registered Paddy Power account, aged 18 or over.

Beaten by Spurs, 16th in the table and Liverpool are Champions.

Man Utd fans, RT this post for a chance to escape any mention of football this weekend. Prize includes:
