The High Point resident was taken into custody last week after police responded to a McDonald’s location on S Main Street in the city.
Waden, who works as a semi truck driver and a pastor for Elevated Life International Ministries per his Facebook page, allegedly arrived at the McDonald’s to assist his wife, according to police records reviewed by The U.S. Sun.
His wife, Latoya Gladney, was reportedly working as a manager-in-training at the local franchise.
Police records claim Gladney, 44, had called Waden to help her due to employees “disrespecting” her.
Upon his arrival at the McDonald’s, Waden allegedly immediately attacked one of the cooks, police have said.
Police records claim the pastor walked around the counter, put his hands around the neck of the 34-year-old cook, and began to push his head towards a deep fryer.
Waden has also been accused of punching the cook.
He allegedly did not stop attacking the man until several other employees pulled him off of the cook and restrained him, according to police.
Ultimately, the victim reportedly suffered a large contusion one his forehead and right eye.
He also suffered from scratches on his neck, according to police.
The cook was later taken to the hospital by family for treatment.
Waden was arrested after responding officers reviewed security footage of the incident.
Waden is scheduled to appear in court for trial on January 22.
His bail bond has been set at $1,000.
Just weeks before the incident, the High Point resident appeared to share a now-seemingly ironic Facebook post about his “legacy.”
“Your legacy is tied to your gift,” Waden wrote in the post.
“Your gift is tied to your purpose. Your purpose is tied to your success. You find out all of that, when your journey in discovering who God is begins.”
Since his arrest, hundreds of Facebook users have flooded to the post’s comment section, poking fun at the alleged assault.
“Apparently your legacy will be tied to french fries,” one person wrote.
“Well we all know your legacy deep fryer man!” another said.
“This post didn’t age well. You, of all people as a pastor, should know that physical violence solves absolutely NOTHING,” another chimed in.
McDonald’s has confirmed to CBS News that Waden’s wife is no longer with the company.
“The safety and security of our employees and customers is our top priority,” the fast food franchise said.
