Police chase ends in horror crash leaving man fighting for life & woman with ‘life-changing’ injuries

A POLICE has chase ended in a horror crash leaving a man fighting for his life and a woman with life-changing injuries.

The smash unfolded at around 4.20pm yesterday on Harrow Road, in Paddington, London.

A white car being chased by police lost control under Westbourne Bridge.

Shocking pictures show how the vehicle went over a barrier and became stuck over the pavement.

The front bumper appears completely crumpled while the two front doors have been removed.

Emergency services rushed a man, in his 20s, to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A woman, also in her 20s, was taken for treatment with life-changing injuries.

An investigation has now been launched by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

An IOPC spokesperson said: “We are aware of the incident and have begun an independent investigation to assess the police’s involvement in the lead-up to the collision.

“Our thoughts are with those injured, and we are committed to thoroughly examining the facts.”

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Anyone with information that could assist police is asked to call 101 or post @MetCC quoting reference CAD 1279/5April.

“To remain 100 per cent anonymous contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
