MANCHESTER CITY’S Etihad Stadium has undergone major renovation work this summer.

The project is part of a whopping £300million investment into East Manchester, but has brought the stadium up to date with some new features.

Work is ongoing at the Etihad to increase the capacity up to 61,470 seats, which would make it the fourth largest Prem ground in the country, marginally ahead of Liverpool’s Anfield.

The expansion of the North Stand to accommodate those extra seats is expected to be completed in 2026.

But in the meantime, City fans will still be treated to some new sights at the ground for the upcoming season.

As detailed by journalist Edward Burnett, the matchday experience for fans is set for some major upgrades.

Burnett details a new giant screen in the corner being introduced on the South Stand.

This will elevate the experience for fans by showing larger and clearer team line-ups and club information.

He adds the new addition is expected to be larger than the other two placed on either side of the North Stand.

However, club staff have confirmed there are no plans to add another screen to the final corner.

The club’s plans for its North Stand next year will see a new tier added to it.

There will also be a creation of an incredible Sky Bar with premium seating for 450 people.

Plans revealed by the club also showed off a new City Square Fanzone, club museum, City Store, and a mammoth 400-bed hotel.

Many of these features won’t be available until next year.

In January, City’s Director of Infrastructure and Development Ed Dalton said: “Work is progressing at pace.

“The project is split into four different sections.

“We have the North Stand development, the hotel, a commercial wing, and the covered fan zone from City Square.

“Over the summer and winter months, we’ve completed all ground works.

“We did as much work as we could during the close season to minimise disruption to fans.”

City last expanded the Etihad back in 2014, when they added a third tier to the South Stand, increasing the capacity from 47,400 to 55,100 seats.

Pep Guardiola’s side kick-off their campaign away to Wolves on the opening weekend, before hosting Tottenham the following week.
