And detectives are waiting to speak to the person of interest in the case, should he recover.

We told how gas engineer Josh, 28 — a former Hamilton Accies youth star — was stabbed to death at his home in the city’s Knightswood last Monday.

A 41-year-old woman was also throttled with a ligature at the time.

Tonight, Police Scotland confirmed: “Around 10pm on May 7 we received a report that a man had fallen from the window of a building.

“Emergency services attended, and the man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”

The force said it is following a positive line of enquiry in relation to Josh’s murder.

A local source said last week: “The killer was known to Josh.

“It’s sickening. He was a thoroughly decent guy from a nice family.”

We told how Josh previously won the United Schools Cup with teammates at Chryston High, in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire.

He was also a talented boxer.

An online fundraising page set up to help his family has already reached £30,000.

Josh’s girlfriend Toni Stewart, 23, also shared a picture of the couple online, and wrote: “He was the best thing that ever happened to me.

“I’ll love him till the day I die.”
