O’Sullivan, 25, was riding the favourite Wee Charlie in the Racing Again February 20th Handicap Chase when he came down at the final fence.

Two others horses fell at the final fence in a horrific incident, but the other jockeys involved were believed to be unhurt.

The last update from the IHRB said: “The air ambulance has arrived at
@thurlesraces and Michael O’Sullivan is being treated by the medical team on track. Due to the ongoing medical situation the remainder of the meeting has been abandoned.”

The County Cork native burst onto the scene in the 2022/23 season when riding for Barry Connell, steering Marine Nationale to a famous success in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham.
