He claimed to have multiple personalities and was fascinated with the movie, where James McEvoy’s character, who has dissociative identity disorder, kidnaps three teen girls.

In chilling echoes of the M Night Shyamalan film, Head told his victim one of personalities J was very violent and would appear if she did not do exactly what he wanted.

But psychiatric tests revealed the fiend did not have any such disorder.

Head has now been jailed for eight years after being convicted of three counts of rape and one of sexual assault by penetration.

Winchester Crown Court was told the predator went to “extreme lengths” to manipulate his victim.

She was left suffering a “huge amount of fear and intimidation” after repeatedly being threatened by Head’s so-called personalities.

He claimed one of his identities had made him take an overdose, which was later found to be fake.

After he was arrested, police found notes on his phone that outlined each of his personalities and their characteristics.

Investigating officer Andy Price said; “Head is a dangerous predator who manipulated and frightened this young woman into having sex with him without her true consent.

“The unique circumstances of this case posed a challenge to the team but with the unwavering support from the survivor, a thorough investigation and dedication by the team to bring Head to justice, a conviction was secured.

“I would like to acknowledge the bravery of the survivor was in coming forward to us, supporting the investigation and helping keep other women safe.

“Although the trauma of what happened cannot be erased, I hope this outcome can give at least some measure of closure.”

JOSEPH Head claimed he had multiple personalities in a chilling echo of the James McAvoy horror.

But while his condition was found out to be a lie, the main character in Split actually does suffer from dissociative identity disorder.

James McAvoy plays Kevin Wendell Crumb, who has 23 alter egos – including a creepy nine-year-old boy and a mean middle-aged woman.

One of his personalities, Dennis, kidnaps three girls and holds them captive underground.

He eventually kills two of the girls after giving into an alter-ego called The Beast.
