But Ramos has now turned his hand to music after releasing a single on social media.

Titled ‘Cibeles’, the track is an ode to Plaza de Cibeles – a famous square in Madrid where Ramos celebrated five LaLiga and four Champions League wins between 2005 and 2021.

A music video shows Ramos posing for the camera while grasping some rosary beads.

He sings and raps in Spanish while staring intently down the lens.

Other clips relive Ramos’ best moments in the capital.

And his lyrics appear to take aim at none other than Real chief Perez, who forced Ramos out to Paris Saint-Germain four years ago.

One part of the verse goes: “There are things I never told you, that still hurt me.

“I never want to leave, you asked me to fly.”

Ramos’ single had clocked up over 600,000 views on YouTube almost a day later.

But reactions were mixed, with one fan saying: “You’re a genius Sergio.”

Another declared: “The history of Real Madrid cannot be written without Sergio Ramos.”

One noted: “Gosh what is this?”

Another added: “You have to know when to stop trying to always be the main character.”

Ramos isn’t the only footballer to have tried out a career in music.

Memphis Depay, now playing for Brazilian side Corinthians, has released several music videos.

Former Manchester United star Jesse Lingard also enjoyed dabbling in tunes.

And ex-Real ace Royston Drenthe has also given rapping a go.

‘Cibeles’ by Sergio Ramos – full lyrics

Translated from Spanish:

There are things I didn’t tell you that still hurt me.

I never wanted to leave, you asked me to fly.

Oh you asked me to fly, oh you asked me.

I would kill for you, I loved you and defended you.

But it wasn’t in me, you asked me to fly.

I dressed up, I gave you blood and sweat.

I enjoyed you and I suffered.

I hope things go well for you, even though I feel bad without you.

It’s a good thing I left because you didn’t treat me the same.

You loved me and I loved you but someone always gives more.

Everything was like I dreamed it until it was time to wake up.

I put crowns on you, you gave me wings.

I knew it was just so I would go away, and I look at you now, you’re still just as beautiful.

Life teaches you that no-one is essential.

One game lasts 90, and I gave you 90 and 3 more than I should have.

I never got tired of trying, in your story I was a legend.

I’d rather die standing up than live on my knees.

I’ll give my heart even if it’s returned to me damaged.

I hope things go well for you, even though I feel bad without you.

Thank goodness I left because you didn’t treat me the same.

You loved me and I loved you but someone always gives more.

Everything was as I dreamed until it was time to wake up.

You forgot about me, you left me aside.

Without being able to decide, that’s what hurts me the most.

Although everything was like that, I would be happy to come back.

Once and a thousand times, and you know it, Cibeles.
