A PUB nestled in “Britain’s Mediterranean” is up for sale but its remoteness might not be to everyone’s liking.
The Turks Head pub on the island of St Agnes in the Scillies – the UK’s most southwesterly boozer – is up for grabs and comes with a £795,000 price tag.

Regulars at the pub are often keen birdwatchers
The pub is for sale at just under £800,000
The cluster of islands are 28 miles off Cornwall’s tip and thought to be the resting place of the legendary King Arthur.
It’s often described as being the UK’s Mediterranean due to its clear blue seas, warm climate and clear skies.
Past landlords at the pub shut up shop and went on holiday in the winter months, leaving locals to get their own drinks and put the cash in an honesty box.
Regulars include armies of birdwatchers who flock to the Isles of Scilly to see rare species, including recent sightings of a red-footed booby from the Galapagos Islands.
Truro estate agents SBC Property, handling the sale, said: “Past owners of the pub were known to go on holiday for months, leaving winter punters to serve themselves and put cash in an honesty box.
“The Turks Head is a unique opportunity for someone looking for a complete lifestyle change.”
It’s the only pub on the island and is just 50 yards from the quay which makes it an ideal spot for thirsty and hungry day-trippers and ‘twitchers’ arriving by boat.
The pub is named after Turkish pirates who came to the Scillies from the Barbary Coast in the 16th Century.
The mile-wide island is home to a community of just 72 people, but due to an influx of tourists in the summer, previous Turks Head landlords have been busy enough between April and October to make it a viable business.
Located inside the former coastguard boathouse, it’s been operating for the past 37 years.
Agents said “It’s an outstanding free house restaurant situated on a unique and idyllic prominent waterside location.”
St Agnes, one of the five inhabited islands in the Scillies, is at the very tip of the British Isles.
To the south-west there’s nothing but Bishop Rock Lighthouse and beyond that, 3,000 miles of Atlantic Ocean separating Europe from North America.
Agents added “Commanding one of the most picturesque views towards Tresco, St Martins, St Mary’s and the Island of Gugh, the Turks Head has been refurbished and offers a traditional style bar and restaurant area for about 60 covers.
“There are stunning outside trading areas with panoramic views for extra covers.
“The pub also comes with a five-bedroom staff accommodation and owners’ two-bedroom accommodation, private slipway and moorings.”
The island is popular with birdwatchers as it often attracts rare species blown across the Atlantic by storms.
