REVELLERS braved freezing temperatures and snow yesterday as they hit the streets for a night out.

Despite amber weather warnings being put in place across the country, some were even spotted in halter neck tops and skirts.

Following the festive celebrations, it seems many have chosen to blow the January blues away by heading out to their nearest bar, pub or club.

While staff outside venues could be seen wrapped up warm in beanie hats and puffer jackets, visitors were less prepared.

As the weather took a turn for the worst, party goers seemed excited to head out for the first weekend of the New Year.

In Leeds, two young women could be seen wearing dresses with one even opting for a pair of flip flops for the occasion.

Others headed on their night out wearing hot pants and vests.

Some donned knee high boots for the occasion whereas others paired trainers and jeans with a corset top.

Few carried jackets but some were spotted sheltering under an umbrella.

Others attempted to protect their makeup by holding their coat or bag in front of their face.

Friends seemed to not let the low temperatures impact their mood as they continued to their next destination for a drink.

It comes after Brits faced travel chaos due to heavy snow closing the runways of major airports.

Those in the North were particularly affected with the coldest spot last night falling to -11C in Loch Glascarnoch, Scotland.

Manchester Airport and Liverpool John Lennon Airport faced closures on their runways due to snow.

Meanwhile the nation’s second city saw Birmingham Airport suspect operations for several hours overnight.

A Met Office amber warning for snow and ice is still active but is due to end at midday today.

The weather service has explained how an area of low pressure moved into the UK from the southwest on Saturday.

Snow could continue to land today before turning into rain in central and southern areas.

Earlier this week, Met Office Chief Forecaster Jason Kelly said: “This weekend will bring a range of weather hazards to the UK, notable snow accumulations, freezing rain, ice and heavy rain as well as some gusty conditions.

“We have issued a number of severe weather warnings, including Amber warnings for snow and ice in parts of England and Wales.

“Some significant accumulations of snow are possible across parts of Wales, the Midlands and northern England in particular, where 5 cm or more could accumulate fairly widely, with as much as 20-30 cm over high ground of mid and north Wales and potentially 30-40 cm over parts of the Pennines.

“This, accompanied by strengthening winds, may lead to drifting of lying snow.”
